TOTOWA - A man is under arrest after an alleged armed standoff yesterday in Totowa.

Police say they responded to a home on Dewey Avenue after getting calls about a domestic dispute. They allegedly found Stephen Montgomery armed with a shotgun and forcing his girlfriend and their 5-year-old daughter to stay inside the house with him.

The SWAT team was also called in to assist with what became a hostage situation and neighbors were evacuated from their homes.

Montgomery was arrested and now faces several charges.
