PARAMUS - State Sen. Barbara Buono needs a major approval rating push in the final weeks before Election Day to catch incumbent Chris Christie in the race of governor.

Since the start of her campaign, Buono has been short on money and support from fellow Democrats.

To boot, a recent Monmouth University poll indicates that her opponent's handling of statewide recovery after Sandy is her biggest challenge, creating a 20-point approval rating gap between the two politicians.

Both candidates spoke at a senior citizen event in Bergen County on Tuesday.
