State police: Man found with 50 kilograms of cocaine on Turnpike

KEARNY - New Jersey State Police say that at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night, troopers arrested Jose Velasquez, 63, of The Bronx, N.Y,

State police say Velasquez was committing a moving violation on the Turnpike while traveling northbound. After searching his 1994 Honda station wagon, troopers say they found three cardboard boxes containing 50 kilograms of cocaine, valued at $1.75 million.

Velasquez was charged with possession of CDS cocaine and possession of CDS cocaine with intent to distribute. He is being held at the Hudson County Jail with no bail.
