State officials prepping ahead of Hurricane Sandy landfall

EDISON - State officials have spent the day prepping for Hurricane Sandy, expected to make landfall Monday.

Gov. Chris Christie has ordered a mandatory evacuation of the Barrier Islands, south of Sandy Hook to Cape May County. He ordered all residents to leave the area by 4 p.m. Sunday.

Middletown EMS crews worked to get inflatable boats ready to go in preparation for the worst-case scenario. Officials are expecting massive flooding from Hurricane Sandy and they say they are prepared to rescue folks who may get trapped in their homes.

Gov. Christie also urged all residents to make sure they have plenty of food for at least three days and a stockpile of batteries.
