An effort is underway in the New Jersey Legislature to allow unauthorized immigrants to legally drive in New Jersey. 

The state would issue driving privilege cards to residents who aren't in the country legally, but can prove they live in the state. 

Supporters say some are driving anyway, and many are uninsured. They also say it would allow immigrants to make an economic contribution.
