CHATHAM - The state is launching an investigation into a prescription pill mix-up at a CVS in Chatham.

The company says its own investigation has led them to believe that 13 prescriptions for fluoride pills were dispensed with some Tamoxifen pills due to a single restocking issue at the pharmacy. The company had earlier feared that as many as 50 customers may have been distributed the drug between Dec. 1 and Feb. 20.

The state attorney general has ordered CVS officials to turn over a wide range of documents and information to investigators by 5 p.m. tomorrow.

A pharmaceutical expert says any child who may have taken the breast cancer treatment medication likely won't suffer any health problems.
