EDISON - State lawmakers have introduced a bill that would allow lottery tickets to be purchased online.

Those in support of the bill said online lotto tickets could expand the annual $2.6 billion lotto ticket market. However, critics say by offering tickets to be bought online, it could hurt small businesses who sell tickets in their stores.

If the bill is passed, New Jersey would be the first state to offer this service.
