NEWARK - Some hospital workers at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark say they are feeling scared and misled after receiving pink slips today.

Millions of dollars in renovations were promised years ago, and now owners are cutting an estimated 60 jobs, along with trimming hours for about 90 staffers.

Lorraine Wiley, a medical assistant at the hospital, tells News 12 New Jersey that she doesn't know what to expect from day to day.

The hospital issued a statement that said, "The Medical Center is taking these unfortunate but necessary steps after considerable planning and deliberation to ensure that the services provided continue to be of the highest quality."
