ASBURY PARK - You don't need an expert to tell you this summer has been mild in the Garden State, and many residents say they don't want it to be over.
"I can't remember a more perfect summer when so many weekends have been pristine," says Jim Gooley.
But one expert is weighing in. State Climatologist David Robinson says the summer of 2014 has been "comfortable" with only a few days above 90 degrees and low humidity.
It was sunny and 75 with a pleasant breeze in Asbury Park Friday.
"It's been nice, and I'm sure all the businesses are doing very well," says Ernest Kodada, of Monroe Township.
Thomas Hicks says bike rentals were up this summer at Brielle Cyclery located on the Asbury Park boardwalk. He says even weekdays were good. "I can't remember the last time we had such a nice summer."
Temperatures were about average, but it seemed cooler than usual because our four previous summers were among the hottest on record, Robinson says.
