EATONTOWN - The Monmouth County SPCA is asking for the public's help to find the person responsible for setting a dog on fire.

Eatontown firefighters responded to a report of smoke and a possible fire Tuesday evening and found a dog's body burning in a wooded area behind the Country Club Apartments off Tinton Falls Avenue.

Chief Humane Law Enforcement Officer Victor Amato says the remains of the dog, which is believed to be a beagle, were taken to Red Bank Animal Hospital.

A necropsy will be performed in order to determine a cause of death.

Amato is asking anyone with information on the dog or its owner to call the SPCA at 732-312-7153.
