Southern NJ woman drowns when kayak capsizes

BRICK TOWNSHIP - (AP) - Authorities in southern New Jerseysay a woman drowned when the kayak she and her neighbor were ridingin capsized on the Manasquan River.

The pair - identified only as 45- and 49-year-old Brick Townshipresidents - had gone out before dusk on Friday and were on theirway back home when the kayak capsized around 10:30 p.m.

The younger woman was able to swim back to shore and alerted herhusband, who called police. The kayak was found about an hourlater, and the 49-year-old woman's body was found by divers around12:40 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities were still trying to determine what caused the kayak to capsize.
