SOUTH ORANGE - Police are urging South Orange residents to be vigilant following a string of break-ins in the town.

Police say there have been at least six break-ins since August and the thieves are entering the homes while families are sleeping inside. Police Chief James Chelel says that homeowners need to make their homes less accessible by using alarms, locks and lights.

He says that if residents see something suspicious they shouldn't wait, but report it immediately.
