MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP - A man was fatally shot after officers responded to a home in Manchester Township early Saturday morning, a high-ranking law enforcement source tells News 12 New Jersey.

Police and other officials responded to a mobile home at Pine Acres Manor around 3 a.m.

Witnesses at the mobile home park tell News 12 that a man who had weapons allegedly barricaded himself inside a home.

They say the man was recently seen walking around with a machete and appeared emotionally unstable.

A neighbor tells News 12 that he heard several gunshots ring out in the early morning hours.

The New Jersey State Attorney General's Office is now heading the investigation because the shooting involved an officer.

The man who was shot has not yet been identified.
