BRIDGEWATER - Somerset County officials held a meeting tonight, asking the public to get involved in making Route 22 safer for drivers.

Officials say the stretch of road between the Route 202/206 and Interstate 287 interchanges carries approximately 88,000 vehicles a day and sees close to 300 accidents a year.

The county says it is doing its own research for a long-term improvement project. Officials are encouraging drivers to tell their driving nightmares and give their suggestions on how to improve the dangerous roadway.
