SAYREVILLE - Secondary roads in many parts of the Garden State have been a struggle for crews to make passable after Monday’s snowfall.

Areas like Vineyard Road in Edison and parts of Washington and Ernston roads in Sayreville needed attention on Monday.

The slush-covered roads caused slow-downs and slippery conditions.  While the plows hit main roads, the side roads went untouched until early evening.

At Sayreville High School, custodians were working to clear the way for students expected to be back in session Tuesday. It wasn't easy work. "It keeps coming down," says Vic Narkiewicz. "You shovel it and you got to do it twice."

Falling temperatures across the state could cause black ice in many areas.
