EDISON - Wintry precipitation and gusty winds are in store for much of the Garden State today as a two-part nor'easter draws closer.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist James Gregorio says the heavier precipitation will begin this afternoon. Most areas will begin as rain and change over to snow later tonight.

Gregorio says the western portion of central New Jersey could see snow totals through Friday as high as 10 inches in parts. Other areas of the state could see up to a few inches.

A coastal flood warning is in place for the entire Jersey shore through Thursday evening. Moderate tidal flooding is expected with pockets of major flooding possible. A high wind warning also is in effect through Thursday for north winds of 25 to 25 mph that could pack gusts up to 55 mph.
