SOUTH BRUNSWICK - Heavy snow and ice have caused a roof collapse in South Brunswick.

A house on Route 27 began caving in early Tuesday morning. Authorities say the house was unoccupied when the roof collapsed.

Local fire departments quickly responded, but say they've seen this before.

"It's been happening more and more lately," says Chief Chris Perez, of the Kendall Park Fire Department. "Through Middlesex County in the last week or so, we've had several roofs collapse.  So, it's going to be more common until this snow starts to leave us."

Perez and his crew had to wait hours before entering the house because the structure was unstable.
