TETERBORO - Port Authority officials say a Gulfstream G-4 plane overshot the runway when it was landing at Teterboro Airport today.

A Port Authority spokesperson said seven passengers and two pilots were onboard the aircraft at the time. No one was injured in the incident.

Officials say safety systems in place were able to stop the plane. The arrester beds installed at Teterboro are made of aerated cement blocks, which are designed to fall apart under the weight of a plane, stopping its momentum. The plane stopped less than 100 yards from Route 46.

A similar incident took place on Feb. 2, 2005, when a Challenger CL-600 twin-engine plane crashed at Teterboro. In that incident, however, the plane went across Route 46 and into a warehouse, injuring 20 people.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.
