MAHWAH - As temperatures are finally getting colder, resorts in New Jersey are preparing for the ski season.

Slopes at resorts like Campgaw Mountain in Mahwah are almost ready to open, as sufficient amounts of snow have been made with the dropping temperatures outside.

John Underfer, one of the managers of Campgaw Mountain, says they typically open around Dec. 24 so this season is started much later than anticipated.

Workers say they need about 48 hours of solid snow-making conditions - freezing temperatures and low humidity - to cover the slopes.

He says they hope to open the slopes Jan. 7.
