GLEN ROCK - Leaders and members of Glen Rock’s Sikh community gathered tonight to pray for the victims and families of the Newtown elementary school shooting.

Members attended a special service tonight, calling for peace and an end to gun violence.

This peaceful community is no stranger to violence. On Aug. 5, a gunman entered a Sikh temple in Wisconsin and opened fire. Six people were killed and three others were injured before police shot and killed the gunman.

A person connected to this Glen Rock temple was among those injured in that shooting.

The tragedy shook members of the Sikh community nationwide. Now, members say the pain of that incident is revisited with the tragedy in Newtown.

Community leaders say they want to channel their lingering pain to offer support to Newtown through prayer.
