Shore market seems to be picking up

AVON-BY-THE-SEA - When the economy took a dive, summer rentals at the Jersey Shore followed suit. Now that the market is recovering, the real estate market is improving at the beach.

In years past, streets in Belmar were lined with For Sale signs during the early spring months. Now, there are only a handful of For Sale signs, as many properties have already been purchased.

Robert McDevitt, of Avon Realty, says that renters have been calling his office since November booking places in all different price ranges. He says that renters want to get away, but also avoid airfare, long rides and gas prices.

Real estate agents told News 12 New Jersey that even though the market is picking up, prices are still negotiable.
