WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP - Despite the murder at Short Hills Mall a week ago, malls across New Jersey were packed with last-minute Christmas shoppers this weekend.
Shoppers at the Woodbridge Center Mall say they are now keeping a closer eye on their surroundings after last weekend's deadly carjacking.
However, every shopper that News 12 spoke with said they are not concerned about security, even in parking lots. Many shoppers felt that the Short Hills shooting was an isolated incident.
Woodbridge Center Mall did not bring in extra security after the Short Hills murder. However, unlike Short Hills Mall, they have uniformed local police officers patrolling the entire parking lot.
At nearby Menlo Park Mall, in addition to mall security, local cops patrol inside and in the parking garages.
The Essex County sheriff told NJ.com that Short Hills stopped that practice two years ago.
Menlo Park Mall would not say if it added security after last Sunday's shooting at Short Hills. However, they did say extra officers are brought in every holiday season.
