EDISON - Many stores across the Garden State opened early today for the busiest return day of the year.

Retailers are hoping to get a sales surge in the days after Christmas following what has been reported as the worst holiday shopping season since 2008.

Experts blame Superstorm Sandy, concerns about the economy and the 'fiscal cliff' for the slow sales.
