WESTFIELD - Shoppers in Westfield headed to local stores yesterday in support of ?Small Business Saturday.??Small Business Saturday? is a national initiative aimed at jump-starting the economy and helping mom-and-pop shops grow and create more jobs.
Small businesses in Westfield offer more local goods made by many of the people who live and work there.
"I prefer the small hands-on touch,? says shopper Jennifer Sokoloff .
Many of the local shops had big bargains to lure in customers.
The idea to shop small was created by American Express, which offers registered customers a $25 credit if they spend $25 or more on their card at a participating small business.
