TINTON FALLS - It's back-to-school season again, and the race to snatch up everything kids need for September is on.

Joseph Post loves his new sneakers but doesn't love back-to-school shopping. "I hate trying on clothes! Hate it. Takes so long," he says.

Jessica Post, the boy's mother, enjoys cruising through the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets in Tinton Falls with her boys because it means school is near. "I'm ready for them to go back," she says.

Stores are offering deep discounts for new backpacks, clothes and sneakers.

Retailers say neon, bold patterns and faux fur are the hot trends.

Cool temperatures are helping to increase demand for fall fashions.

Last-minute shoppers are expected as Labor Day approaches.

The National Retail Federation predicts back-to-school spending will be up about 3 percent this year.
