EDISON - A woman in south Jersey is suing the state after her application for a personalized license plate was rejected.

Shannon Morgan reportedly wanted to have "8Theist" on her license plate because she wanted to express her beliefs.

She's suing the Motor Vehicle Commission, saying it violated her First Amendment rights when the application for the plate was denied.

The state MVC saw a similar suit last summer when the president of an Atheist group was denied a license plate that read "athe1st." He won that suit.
