MIDLAND PARK - Heavy rain and strong winds brought trees and branches down all over the Garden State including a large tree that fell on power lines in Midland Park.

Piles of debris blocked roadways in the area near Vreeland and Payne avenues Friday afternoon. Many residents like Bryan Fitzpatrick lost power as a result.

Fitzpatrick also lost large parts of a tree which collapsed and took down lines and blocked nearby Woodside Avenue.

But life went on in the normally quiet neighborhood. Students told News 12 New Jersey that the weather wasn't going to prevent them from getting to their eighth-grade dance.

No injuries were reported.
