TRENTON - First, Senate President Stephen Sweeney felt the wrath of fellow Democrats for partnering with Republican Gov. Chris Christie on a landmark employee benefits overhaul. Now he's being thanked for his efforts by the GOP.

The Republican State Committee sponsored robo-calls Tuesday, urging voters to thank Sweeney for cooperating with Christie.

The two supported legislation to make public workers pay more for pension and health benefits.

The calls come nearly a week after Sweeney publicly criticized the changes Gov. Christie made to the budget before signing into law.
