SEASIDE HEIGHTS - Certificate of occupancy inspections began today in Seaside Heights more than two months after Superstorm Sandy devastated the area.

According to the town's website, residents and visitors will be granted full access to the area starting Jan. 7. Businesses can also be opened from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Inspection fees have been waived until Feb. 15.

The town will accept applications and start the process of inspecting one and two family residential units for occupancy today. They hope to begin inspecting multi-family properties by Feb. 1 and hotels by March 1.

Mayor Bill Akers says he is so optimistic about the progress being made that he's confident Seaside Heights will be ready for summer 2013.
