ASBURY PARK - Rescue teams and the U.S. Coast Guard have suspended their search for a young man who disappeared in the waters off an Asbury Park beach yesterday.

Rescue officials say the conditions are too rough and too deep to conduct the search.

Family members have identified the man as Frankie Lezin, of Asbury Park.

Police say the 23-year-old man went swimming off the Second Avenue beach after 5 p.m., when lifeguards were off duty. A friend says they tried to pull the victim out of the water, but were unsuccessful in the rescue attempt.

A nephew and a third person who was with Lezin safely made it to shore. The nephew told police he grabbed a rope when the current was taking him out to sea.
