SEA BRIGHT - Get ready to pay up for parking in Sea Bright.

Council members in the Monmouth County town, known for its free beach parking, approved a plan to charge $1 an hour at four municipal lots during the summer months.

Some business owners are concerned charging their customers to park will drive some of them away.

Mayor Dina Long tells News 12 that street parking along the commercial sections of Ocean Avenue will remain free, but limited by time.  And they plan to work with business owners to address other concerns.

Councilmembers also say charging for spots will open up more of them by discouraging local beach clubs and other businesses from parking their employees in the municipal lots.

The new parking fees go into effect Memorial Day weekend.
