PATERSON - Police and emergency medical crews are on the scene of a bus crash in Paterson.

The bus was headed to DePaul Catholic High School when it collided with a utility pole at around 7 a.m. The crash happened on Valley Road near Route 19. It appears the bus might have hit a patch of black ice.

DePaul Catholic School President Joseph Tweed told News 12 New Jersey all students were accounted for and safe. Tweed said five kids were taken to a nearby hospital with minor complaints. Thirty one kids were aboard the bus at the time of the crash.

All of the students’ parents have been contacted.
