TRENTON - (AP) - Yellow may no longer be the predominantcolor of school buses in New Jersey.

The Assembly Education Committee will consider a measureThursday allowing ads on the outside of the buses.

The bill would not allow ads for tobacco or alcohol products orpolitical advocacy.

The state education commissioner would get the final say aboutany potentially offensive ads.

Boards of Education that contract for ad space would have to usehalf the revenue to defray fuel costs for student busing. The otherhalf would go toward school programs or services.

A similar bill went nowhere in the prior legislative session. But Gov. Chris Christie cut $812 million from the educationbudget this year.

Bill sponsors say any revenue-raising ideas that don't hurt kidsor harm education should be considered.
