IRVINGTON - A man accused of sexually assaulting multiple women has surrendered to Irvington police.

Authorities say Samuel Reed turned himself in Friday morning following the large amount of media coverage surrounding his alleged crimes.

Irvington police say the women were attacked near the intersection of Grove Street and Nye Avenue at various hours of the day and night. Reed allegedly threatened them with a gun before the assaults.

Reed has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, one count of kidnapping, criminal attempt at sexual assault and several weapons offenses.

He will be held at the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a court date.
