HAZLET - The Salvation Army says it hopes that the season of giving extends well past the holidays.
The organization is still extremely busy assisting Sandy survivors, and is in need of volunteers. It recently opened an Emergency Assistance Center in Hazlet. Residents hard hit by Sandy can come there for whatever items they need.
As the recovery efforts evolve from immediate response to long-term care, the organization needs volunteers and continued donations in order to assist those who may need help for years to come.
The Salvation Army hopes to open another long-term Sandy Service Center in Ortley Beach next month and possibly more after that.
