Rutgers University offers class in civility

NEW BRUNSWICK - Some say New Jersey does not have the best reputation when it comes to manners. A new program at Rutgers University is attempting to change that.

Project Civility is a two-year program at Rutgers that takes a look at what exactly is considered civil currently, as well as aiming to improve human interaction.

Scott Lazes, a senior at Rutgers, made a documentary that will be shown as part of Project Civility. Lazes says that people may not realize what they're doing is mean or hurtful, such as sending text messages while someone is talking, going on Facebook during class or packing up before class is over.

Project Civility kicks off next week, with its first of monthly discussions.
