NEW BRUNSWICK - A group of Rutgers Sigma Chi fraternity brothers shaved streaks in their hair Tuesday, not because they lost bets, but to raise money in support of a child with cancer.
All of the proceeds will go to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which funds New Jersey children's hospitals including Robert Wood Medical Center, where 9-year-old Ronald is being treated.
Organizer Brad Cutler is proud of the brothers' sacrifice. "All these brothers are brave for shaving their heads, but no one is braver than Ronald for going through what he's going through," he says. "I mean, he really is the man and we're really trying to support him for this."
The Sigma Chi Fraternity raised nearly $140,000 last year for the Children's Miracle Network during an annual weeklong charity event called Derby Days.
