NEW BRUNSWICK - Rutgers University President Richard McCormick tells the Star-Ledger that he is stepping down at the end of the academic year.

McCormick says he'll take a year-long sabbatical before coming back to Rutgers as a history professor. He says he is looking forward to spending more time with his family.

McCormick, 63, is Rutgers' 19th president.
