Rutgers changes dorm move-in date before hurricane

NEW BRUNSWICK - (AP) - Fall move-in for students on RutgersUniversity's main campus is being moved up by a day because ofHurricane Irene.

Students at the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus were scheduledto move in to residence halls on Sunday. The new move-in time isSaturday between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The change affects only the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. A new student convocation scheduled for Sunday has beencanceled.

Rutgers officials say they made the changes because of thepotential for severe weather and hazardous travel conditions.

Forecasters aren't sure what path the hurricane will take. Itcould strike land anywhere from South Carolina to Massachusettsover the weekend.

Officials say students unable to move in on Saturday shouldinstead move in Monday after the storm has passed.
