Runyan unseats Rep. Adler in 3rd Congressional District race

TRENTON - Republican Jon Runyan, the former Philadelphia Eagles lineman, beat incumbent Rep. John Adler (R-N.J.) in a tight 3rd Congressional District race, returning the seat to the party that had long controlled it.

"I will probably be the largest human being on the hill," said Runyan during a speech last night. "But we are going to take that largeness and actually shrink the size of government."

Today, Runyan caught up with voters to thank them for their support.

Rep. Adler was a longtime state legislator who won the congressional seat two years ago after Rep. Jim Saxton (R-N.J.) retired. While making his concession speech, Adler thanked his supporters, staff and family for all their help.

The district covers parts of Burlington, Camden and Ocean counties.
