Route 72 into Long Beach Island to close

TRENTON - (AP) - The eastbound lanes into New Jersey's LongBeach Island will close to traffic at 6 p.m.

After that point, all lanes on Route 72 will funnel traffic westfor 28 miles to Route 70. The shift is designed to aid residentsevacuating the Ocean County resort.

Gov. Chris Christie has ordered the temporary suspension oftolls on all parts of the Garden State Parkway south of the RaritanRiver and the Atlantic City Expressway.

Routes 47 and 347 in Cape May County will close to eastboundtraffic and all lanes of traffic will move westward beginning at 6p.m. Friday. All ramps will be tightly controlled and additionalpersonnel will be used to ensure safety.
