TOMS RIVER - The state says construction on Route 35 will resume full-time on the barrier island on Sept. 2, but residents say even part-time summer work has been a hassle.

News 12 New Jersey spotted crews working today in Toms River where one lane is closed.

A letter also reminds residents that contractors could rip up whatever is in the easement of their property and will not return or replace it. That could include landscaping, fences and mailboxes.

Businesses say sales have taken a hit this summer due to the construction and related traffic.
