Route 3 eastbound in Rutherford reopens after emergency bridge repairs

RUTHERFORD - A major roadway in Rutherford has reopened following a crash Wednesday evening.

Route 3 eastbound was closed for several hours while crews worked on the Ridge Road overpass. A support beam was damaged when it was struck by a tow truck boom.

Ridge Road remains closed in both directions at the Route 3 bridge. The bridge is located three quarters of a mile east of Route 21 and the Passaic River Bridge.

Engineers are expected to assess the bridge and determine what repairs are needed.

Drivers should expect some delays and find alternate routes through the area.
