METUCHEN - Six months and $9 million later, the bridge on Route 27 in Metuchen has finally reopened.

The bridge had been under reconstruction since 2008, but was completely closed to traffic in March due to the discovery of a major structural crack.

Since the bridge was completely shut down, the project was finished nine months ahead of schedule.

Residents say they are just happy to see the bridge reopen and business returning to those affected by the closure.
