ROSELLE PARK - Roselle Park police are trying to identify the man who reportedly tried to lure a 16-year-old boy into his car.
Police say that the teen was walking to school in the area of West Clay Avenue near Hawthorne Street Tuesday morning when a gold, four-door Chevy Impala drove up next to him.
The driver apparently asked the teen if he was interested in being in the adult film industry. The teen told police that the brief conversation was sexual in nature and that the man tried to entice him to come into his car.
The teen apparently told the man that he was too young for the adult industry and that he was on his way to school. The teen also told police that when he indicated that he wasn’t interested, the driver sped off and hit the curb as he drove away.
Police described the driver as a heavyset black man in his late-20s or early-30s. He has short hair and was clean-shaven.
The Impala appeared to be a 2000–2005 model with black molding that was missing driver-side front and rear hubcaps. It may have front-end damage.
Anyone who may recognize the car or the driver is asked to contact the Roselle Park Police Department at 908-245-2300.
