EAST RUTHERFORD - Giants fans are getting to know both rookie cornerback Eli Apple as well as his mom, Annie Apple, during rookie minicamp this Mother's Day weekend.

While Apple starred at Ohio State and was ultimately selected 10th overall by Big Blue, Annie Apple seemed to steal her son's spotlight on May 1 after she tweeted, warning her son about groupies targeting him through Twitter.

"Only Jesus can quench your thirst," she wrote.

The league's commissioner, Roger Goodell, also sent Apple's mother brownies after she wrote about how she was disappointed in the lack of desserts at the NFL Draft.

"I have no problem with that at all," her son says. "(If) she wants the whole spotlight, she can have it."

Apple says the relationship he has with his mother has taught him discipline and helped him succeed at Ohio State and as he embarks on his professional career.
