IRVINGTON - Firefighters spent the morning dousing hotspots morning after an overnight fire destroyed an Irvington plastic bag factory.

The industrial fire caused the roof to collapse and created a difficult firefighting operation for responders.

The owner of the business and his employees were trying to salvage whatever they could while removing debris with heavy machinery to help firemen get at those remaining hotspots.

Arson investigators will look inside the building at 100 Coit St. once it is deemed safe.

One firefighter was taken to University Hospital to be treated for a lacerated hand.
