TOMS RIVER - High school and middle school students got the chance to show off their engineering skills Wednesday at the Robotics Race at Ocean County College.

Students from area schools were given the task of building robots within a certain time frame to accomplish various challenges.

One task included capturing a ball and returning it to the starting line.

"It's fun. You get to see a lot of teamwork," says engineering professor Neil Schiller. "You get to see a lot of specialization. And you'll see the kids getting excited. And that's the great thing about one of these contests."

Instructors say the contest teaches students how to work together.
