The suspect is said to be armed with a switchblade, machete and a Molotov cocktail.

LONG BRANCH - Police say they have arrested a man after a nearly four-hour standoff in Long Branch.

Robert Powers Jr. was arrested at around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Powers Jr. and his father got into a dispute in the house over groceries at around 5 p.m. Police say Powers Jr. pushed his dad to the ground, cutting his head.

Police were called to the scene and the standoff began. Authorities say members of the Monmouth County SWAT team fired tear gas and made the arrest.

Powers Jr. was taken away for psychiatric evaluation. He faces charges of terroristic threats, false imprisonment and unlawful possession of a weapon.
