EDISON - Volunteers cleaned up a stretch of riverfront in Middlesex County on Sunday in honor of a young man who lost his life in a tragic accident.

Sally Yabra organized the event at the Edison boat basin to honor her son, Jonathan Baksh, who drowned last August at age 19.

Yabra says she and her children used to visit the spot along the Raritan River.

Yabra and around 50 volunteers picked up trash along the water, and she hopes the community will come together to make the spot even more beautiful.

"As the seasons change, I can enjoy Jon," she says. "This is a living tribute to my son."

The town was involved in the effort, along with organizations like the Boy Scouts, to supply gloves, trash bags and water.
